What is the most reliable engine in a manual Nissan Qashqai?

The 1.5 dCi diesel is the most trusted engine in the manual Qashqai: simple, frugal and shared with Renault. Early 1.2 DIG-T petrols drew complaints about oil consumption, so their service record matters more than usual.

Is the manual Nissan Qashqai J12 a hybrid?

Yes, the manual J12 uses the 1.3 DIG-T with a 12-volt mild-hybrid system, which assists the engine but cannot drive on electricity alone. The e-Power hybrid has no manual version.

Should I buy a manual or automatic Nissan Qashqai?

For long motorway drives the manual is the cheaper Qashqai to keep, since it avoids the Xtronic CVT and its fluid changes. In town traffic the automatic earns its keep through comfort.
