Which Mini diesel engine is the most reliable?

The newer BMW engines, the Cooper D's 1.5 three-cylinder and the Cooper SD's 2.0, have a better name than the PSA-sourced 1.6. Always ask for the oil-change history.

What problems does the 2007 to 2010 Mini Cooper D have?

The PSA-sourced 1.6 can suffer from leaking injector seals and turbo wear if oil changes were skipped. Blue smoke or a loss of power are warning signs.

Is a diesel Mini worth it for city driving?

On short urban trips the particulate filter never gets to regenerate and ends up clogging. For mostly city driving, a petrol Mini is the better fit.
