What should I check on a used Mini Cabrio roof?

Open and close the roof several times, making sure the mechanism runs without noises or stalls. Look for damp carpets, a sign of worn seals or blocked drains.

Which Mini Cabrio generations are there?

The R52 was sold from 2004 to 2008, the R57 from 2009 to 2015 and the F57 from 2016. The F57 is larger and uses BMW three- and four-cylinder engines.

Is a Mini Cabrio practical all year round in Portugal?

Yes, the fabric roof insulates well in winter and the climate allows plenty of roof-down days. The boot is small, so it suits two adults or short trips with four.

From €3,100 to €52,600, half under €15,990 · Typically 2016 with 110,000 km · Most listed: Mini Cabrio, Mini Cooper, and Mini One. Portugal's climate allows roof-down driving for much of the year, and the Mini Cabrio pairs that with a small, nimble car. Its electric fabric roof also opens partly like a sunroof, but the seals and drains deserve a careful look.
