Mini Cooper three-door or five-door: which is more practical?

The five-door has a longer wheelbase, easier access to the rear seats and a larger boot. The three-door is shorter and a little sharper to drive, but adults sit tightly in the back.

Is the Mini Cooper easy to park in the city?

Yes, the three-door is under four metres long, so it fits small spaces in old town centres. Parking sensors and a rear camera, fitted to many F56 cars, help further.

Is a used Mini Cooper convertible a good buy?

It is a fun choice for Portugal's climate, but check that the fabric roof seals well and its mechanism runs smoothly. Look in the boot and footwells for signs of water getting in.

From €3,500 to €41,490, half under €12,900 · Typically 2015 with 140,000 km. The Mini Cooper is a true small car, short enough for the tight streets of Lisbon's and Porto's old quarters. The three-door is the classic shape, the five-door adds a longer wheelbase and rear doors, and the convertible trades boot space for an open roof.
