Which Mazda models come with a manual gearbox?

Practically the whole combustion range offered one: Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-3, CX-30, CX-5 and MX-5. The CX-60 and the electric MX-30 come with automatic transmission only.

Is the Mazda manual gearbox reliable?

The six-speed Skyactiv gearbox has a reputation for toughness and precise shifts. On a used car, check that gears engage quietly from cold and that the clutch does not slip on a hill.

Should I buy a manual or automatic Mazda?

Mazda's automatic is a torque-converter unit, not a dual-clutch, and also has a good reputation. The manual tends to cost less and is more engaging, so the choice comes down to taste and use.

From €1,100 to €92,850, half under €11,990 · Typically 2015 with 150,000 km · Most listed: Mazda CX-3, Mazda MX-5, and Mazda 3. Mazda kept the manual gearbox across almost its whole range, and its six-speed has a short, precise throw that recalls the MX-5. It suits the naturally aspirated Skyactiv-G petrol engines and their linear response.
