Question 1

What is the difference between the Sandero and the Sandero Stepway?

Accepted Answer

The Stepway sits higher, with more ground clearance and plastic body cladding that gives it a crossover look. It uses the same engines as the regular Sandero and is front-wheel drive only. It copes better with rough tracks and high kerbs.

Question 2

Is the LPG Sandero ECO-G worth it?

Accepted Answer

The ECO-G runs on LPG as well as petrol, and LPG is usually cheaper per litre where Portuguese stations sell it. The system is fitted at the factory and covered by Dacia's warranty, unlike a later conversion. On a test drive, check it switches to gas once warm and that both fuel gauges work.

Question 3

Can I still find a diesel Sandero?

Accepted Answer

Yes, in the first two generations, which offered the 1.5 dCi; the current Sandero is petrol or petrol-LPG only. An older dCi is frugal on long journeys, but ask how it was serviced, because this engine does not forgive skipped oil changes.

Question 4

Is a Sandero cheap to tax in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

The IUC for cars registered since July 2007 depends on engine size and CO2 emissions, and the Sandero's small engines keep it in the lower bands. Older cars pay on a scale based on engine size and age instead.
