Does the manual Citroën C4 have clutch problems?

On HDi and BlueHDi diesels, the dual-mass flywheel and clutch are the wear parts to watch, with vibration at idle as the sign. A pedal that bites very high or slips on a hill means the clutch is near its end.

Does the manual Citroën C4 have five or six gears?

It depends on the engine: the less powerful versions of the earlier generations use five gears and the stronger ones six. The C4 launched in 2020 has a six-speed manual.

Is a manual or automatic Citroën C4 the better buy?

Before 2020, the manual avoids the ETG6 and EGS6 robotised gearboxes, which shift slowly and jerkily. For comfort, the EAT6 automatic in late second-generation cars is the smoother alternative.
