Question 1

Is a used Toyota RAV4 hybrid reliable?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the RAV4 hybrid has a strong reliability record, with an e-CVT that has neither clutch nor belt. Have the hybrid battery checked by a Toyota dealer, which can extend its warranty.

Question 2

What is the difference between a Toyota RAV4 hybrid and plug-in hybrid?

Accepted Answer

The RAV4 plug-in hybrid adds a larger battery, a charging socket and an electric range that covers short daily trips. It is more powerful, but it only pays off when charged regularly at home or at work.

Question 3

Is the Toyota RAV4 AWD-i a proper 4x4?

Accepted Answer

The RAV4 AWD-i is electric four-wheel drive: a rear motor helps the front wheels when grip drops. It suits snow and tracks rather than serious off-roading, and there is no propshaft to maintain.

Question 4

Which Crit'Air sticker does a Toyota RAV4 hybrid get?

Accepted Answer

A petrol RAV4 hybrid or plug-in hybrid gets the Crit'Air 1 sticker, which gives access to low-emission zones. When a car over four years old is sold, a contrôle technique less than six months old is still required.
