Question 1

Is a Toyota Aygo the same car as a Citroën C1?

Accepted Answer

The first two generations of Aygo were developed with PSA and built in the same Czech factory as the Citroën C1 and the Peugeot 107 or 108. Mechanically they are very close, so parts and know-how are widely shared. The Aygo X that followed is Toyota's own design.

Question 2

Which Crit'Air sticker does a used Aygo get?

Accepted Answer

Every Aygo runs on petrol, so the sticker depends on the Euro emissions standard shown on the carte grise. Petrol cars meeting Euro 5 or Euro 6 receive Crit'Air 1, while older Euro 4 cars receive Crit'Air 2.

Question 3

Should I choose a manual or an automatic Toyota Aygo?

Accepted Answer

The robotised gearbox of the first two generations (MMT, then x-shift) is slow and jerky when pulling away, so a test drive in traffic matters. The CVT in the Aygo X is far smoother. The manual remains the simplest choice.

Question 4

Does a used Aygo need a contrôle technique to be sold?

Accepted Answer

Yes, once the car is more than four years old: the seller must hand over a contrôle technique carried out within the last six months. A younger Aygo is sold without one.
