Question 1

What is the difference between the Renault Kangoo, Trafic and Master?

Accepted Answer

The Kangoo is the compact van, close to a car in size and driving. The Trafic is the mid-size van, also sold as a minibus for up to nine people, and the Master is the large van, offered in several lengths and roof heights.

Question 2

Should a used Renault van's carte grise say VP or CTTE?

Accepted Answer

A van registered as a camionnette (CTTE) is a utility vehicle, usually with two or three seats and a load area. One registered as a passenger car (VP) is treated as a car. Check that the category matches how you will use it, since it affects insurance and the number of seats allowed.

Question 3

What inspections does a used Renault van need?

Accepted Answer

A van under 3.5 tonnes has its first contrôle technique at four years and then every two years, like a car. A light utility vehicle also needs an annual pollution check in between, and a sale requires a contrôle technique less than six months old.

Question 4

Does an electric Renault Kangoo come with its battery?

Accepted Answer

Not always. Many Kangoo Z.E. vans were sold with the battery on a monthly rental contract, which the buyer has to take over. Ask for the contract, or proof that the battery is owned, before agreeing a price.

Question 5

Which Crit'Air sticker does a diesel Renault van get?

Accepted Answer

A diesel Kangoo, Trafic or Master meeting Euro 5 or 6 gets Crit'Air 2, and an older Euro 4 one gets Crit'Air 3. Low-emission zones in the big cities restrict the higher classes first, so the sticker matters for deliveries in town.
