Question 1

What changes between Trafic van versions?

Accepted Answer

The panel van comes in two lengths, L1 and L2, and two roof heights, H1 and H2, and some have a crew cab with a second row of seats. Check the version on the carte grise against the load volume you need, since an L2H2 will not fit every car park.

Question 2

Does a used Trafic van need more than the usual contrôle technique?

Accepted Answer

Yes: as a light commercial vehicle it also needs a complementary emissions check one year after each contrôle technique, on top of the main test every two years from its fourth year. A sale still requires a contrôle technique report under six months old once the van is over four.

Question 3

Can a business reclaim VAT on a used Trafic van?

Accepted Answer

A van registered as a utility vehicle (CTTE) normally lets a VAT-registered business recover the VAT, provided the dealer shows it on the invoice rather than selling under the margin scheme. A private sale carries no VAT to reclaim.

Question 4

Which Crit'Air sticker does a Trafic van get?

Accepted Answer

Every dCi diesel of the third generation gets Crit'Air 2, so check the rules of the low-emission zone you drive in. The E-Tech electric version carries the green Crit'Air sticker.
