What automatic gearboxes does the Renault Megane have?

Most automatic Meganes use EDC, a six- or seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while the E-Tech plug-in hybrid has a clutchless multimode gearbox. The electric Megane E-Tech, a separate model, has a single-speed drive.

Is the EDC gearbox in the Renault Megane reliable?

It is generally sound, but jerky starts, slipping or a warning light can point to worn clutches or a faulty control unit. Test it in slow traffic and on hill starts, and ask whether software updates were done.

Is the electric Renault Megane E-Tech a good choice?

It drives like an automatic with no gears at all and was offered with two battery sizes. As an electric car it gets the green Crit'Air sticker; ask for a battery health report.
