Is the EAT8 gearbox in the Peugeot 5008 reliable?

The Aisin-built EAT8 has a good record and suits both the PureTech petrol and BlueHDi diesel engines. Check for harsh or delayed shifts when cold, and ask about any gearbox fluid change on a high-mileage car.

Which Peugeot 5008 automatic should I choose, EAT6 or EAT8?

The EAT8, fitted from around 2018, has two more ratios, shifts more smoothly and helps fuel consumption on the motorway. The EAT6 is still a robust conventional automatic and often comes on older, more affordable cars.

What do I need to buy a used Peugeot 5008 automatic in France?

The seller hands over the certificat d'immatriculation (carte grise) and, for a car over four years old, a contrôle technique under six months old. Check the Crit'Air sticker as well: diesels get Crit'Air 2, petrol and hybrid versions Crit'Air 1.
