Question 1

Which Crit'Air sticker does a Countryman get?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the fuel and the Euro standard. Petrol and plug-in hybrid Countrymans meeting Euro 5 or 6 get Crit'Air 1, diesels Crit'Air 2, and the fully electric version the green sticker that opens every low-emission zone.

Question 2

What is ALL4 on a Mini Countryman?

Accepted Answer

ALL4 is Mini's all-wheel drive, which sends power to the rear wheels when the front ones lose grip. On the plug-in hybrid, an electric motor drives the rear axle instead of a propshaft.

Question 3

What should I watch for on a first-generation Countryman?

Accepted Answer

The 1.6 petrol engine fitted to early cars is known for timing chain wear, heard as a rattle for a few seconds after a cold start. Regular oil changes matter, because the chain suffers when servicing is stretched.

Question 4

Is a used plug-in hybrid Countryman worth it?

Accepted Answer

Its battery is small and meant for short daily trips, so the car suits a buyer who can charge at home. Check that the charging cable comes with the car and that the electric range shown on a full charge looks plausible.
