Which Mercedes B-Class generation should I buy?

The W246, sold from 2011 to 2018, is the most common and offers a conventional floor and modern safety kit. The W247 from 2019 adds the MBUX touchscreen system, the 2.0 diesel and a plug-in hybrid.

What are the common faults on a used Mercedes B-Class?

Early W246 petrol engines can rattle on cold starts from worn camshaft adjusters, and the 7G-DCT dual-clutch gearbox can be jerky at low speed. The older W245's CVT automatic is that generation's weakest point.

What paperwork comes with a used Mercedes B-Class in France?

The seller hands over the certificat d'immatriculation (carte grise) and, for a car over four years old, a contrôle technique under six months old. Check the Crit'Air sticker too: 1 for a Euro 5 or 6 petrol, 2 for a diesel.
