Question 1

Is every Jeep Renegade four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

No. Many Renegades are front-wheel drive, with four-wheel drive reserved for certain diesel versions, the Trailhawk and the 4xe, whose rear axle is driven by an electric motor. Go by the version name rather than the looks.

Question 2

What should I check on a used Renegade 4xe?

Accepted Answer

Ask whether the charging cable comes with the car and how often it was charged, since a plug-in hybrid that was rarely plugged in has run mostly on its petrol engine. A test drive in electric mode shows whether the battery still holds a charge.

Question 3

Which Crit'Air sticker does a Jeep Renegade get?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the fuel and the Euro standard: a Euro 5 or Euro 6 diesel gets Crit'Air 2, while Euro 5 and 6 petrol versions and the 4xe get Crit'Air 1. The sticker decides access to France's low-emission zones.

Question 4

What paperwork comes with a used Renegade in France?

Accepted Answer

The seller hands over the certificat d'immatriculation (carte grise), a signed certificat de cession and, for a car over four years old, a contrôle technique report less than six months old. The transfer is then completed online.
