Question 1

What kind of automatic gearbox does a Hyundai have?

Accepted Answer

Many petrol and hybrid Hyundais use a dual-clutch gearbox, others a conventional automatic with a torque converter, and the electric models a single-speed drive. Check the exact version, as the gearbox differs between models and engines.

Question 2

Does the Hyundai warranty carry over to a used car?

Accepted Answer

The manufacturer warranty, five years with unlimited mileage, stays with the car when it changes hands. Ask for the warranty start date and the servicing record that keeps it valid.

Question 3

What should I test on a dual-clutch Hyundai?

Accepted Answer

Drive it in slow traffic and try a hill start: pulling away should be smooth, without judder or hesitation. Jerky engagement at low speed can point to worn clutches or software that needs an update.

Question 4

Which Crit'Air sticker does an automatic Hyundai get?

Accepted Answer

A petrol or hybrid Hyundai registered from 2011 gets Crit'Air 1, an electric one Crit'Air 0 and a recent diesel Crit'Air 2. The low-emission zones of large French cities restrict the higher categories.
