Is the Dacia Sandero manual gearbox reliable?

Yes, the Renault-sourced manual gearboxes are simple and generally durable. Check the clutch bite point and listen for crunching when changing down, which points to worn synchromesh.

Should I choose a manual or the CVT on a Dacia Sandero TCe 90?

The manual is lighter, simpler and slightly more frugal. The CVT suits drivers who spend a lot of time in town traffic and want a smooth two-pedal car.

What is the Easy-R gearbox on the Dacia Sandero?

Easy-R is a robotised single-clutch manual offered on the Sandero II, which can feel jerky between gears. Many buyers prefer a conventional manual Sandero II, or a third-generation car with the CVT if they want an automatic.

The manual gearbox is the Sandero's default: five speeds with the SCe engines, six with the TCe 90 and ECO-G 100 of the third generation. On a Sandero II, choosing a manual also avoids the Easy-R robotised gearbox, known for jerky shifts.
