Question 1

What is the difference between the C4 Picasso and the Grand C4 Picasso?

Accepted Answer

The C4 Picasso has five seats, while the longer Grand C4 Picasso adds a third row for seven. On the first generation, the Grand also has rear air suspension, which is worth checking for sagging.

Question 2

Which C4 Picasso gearbox should I be wary of?

Accepted Answer

The single-clutch robotised manual, sold as BMP6 or EGS and later ETG6, shifts slowly and can jerk, and its clutch and actuator wear. Later second-generation cars offer the EAT6 torque-converter automatic, which is far smoother.

Question 3

Which Crit'Air sticker does a diesel C4 Picasso get?

Accepted Answer

A Euro 5 or Euro 6 diesel gets Crit'Air 2, and an older Euro 4 diesel Crit'Air 3. Petrol versions from Euro 5 get Crit'Air 1, which makes the difference in cities with low-emission zones.

Question 4

What should I check on a C4 Picasso BlueHDi diesel?

Accepted Answer

Euro 6 BlueHDi engines use AdBlue, and faults in the AdBlue tank and pump are a known weakness of these PSA diesels. An AdBlue warning on the dashboard calls for a diagnosis before purchase.

Question 5

Is the C4 SpaceTourer a different car from the C4 Picasso?

Accepted Answer

No. In 2018 the second-generation C4 Picasso was renamed C4 SpaceTourer without a major redesign. A late C4 Picasso and an early C4 SpaceTourer are close relatives worth comparing side by side.
