Question 1

What does an Aston Martin cost to run in France?

Accepted Answer

Budget for servicing at an Aston Martin dealer or recognised specialist, large tyres and brakes, and insurance suited to a high-value car. The carte grise is priced on fiscal horsepower, which is high for a V8 or V12. Past invoices give the clearest idea of what a given car needs.

Question 2

Does an imported Aston Martin pay the malus in France?

Accepted Answer

A used car registered in France for the first time can owe the malus écologique, reduced according to its age. With the CO2 output of a V8 or V12 the sum can be large, so check it before buying abroad.

Question 3

Which Aston Martin gearbox is easiest to live with?

Accepted Answer

The DB9, DB11 and the Vantage from 2018 use a conventional torque-converter automatic, smooth in town. Earlier V8 and V12 Vantages were offered with a manual or the Sportshift automated manual, which shifts less smoothly at low speed and wears its clutch faster.

Question 4

What Crit'Air sticker does an Aston Martin get?

Accepted Answer

Petrol cars built to Euro 5 or 6, broadly those registered from 2011, get Crit'Air 1. An earlier DB9 or V8 Vantage under Euro 4 gets Crit'Air 2, which may lose access to some low-emission zones as their rules tighten.
