Question 1

What is the difference between an Abarth 595 and a 695?

Accepted Answer

Both are performance versions of the Fiat 500. The 595 covers the core range from Turismo to Competizione, while the 695 badge has been used for more powerful and more exclusive special editions.

Question 2

What should I check on a used Abarth?

Accepted Answer

Look for signs of hard driving: a slipping clutch, tired brakes and tyres, kerbed wheels. Ask whether the exhaust, suspension or engine map have been changed, since undeclared modifications can complicate insurance and the contrôle technique.

Question 3

Which Crit'Air sticker does an Abarth get?

Accepted Answer

A petrol Abarth first registered from 2011 normally gets Crit'Air 1, and earlier ones Crit'Air 2. The electric 500e and 600e get the green sticker, which gives access to every low-emission zone.

Question 4

Is an Abarth practical as an everyday car?

Accepted Answer

In town it is lively and easy to park, but the ride is firm and the rear seats and boot are small. The 124 Spider seats only two.
