Is the Volvo XC60's six-speed Geartronic gearbox reliable?

It is a robust Aisin unit, but sensitive to the state of its fluid: harsh or hesitant shifts point to old fluid or wear. A record of gearbox fluid changes is a good reassurance.

What automatic gearbox does the second-generation Volvo XC60 have?

The second generation uses an eight-speed torque-converter Geartronic, the T6 and T8 plug-in hybrids included. It is smooth in town and works well for towing.

Is there a manual Volvo XC60?

There is, but they are rare and almost only found in the front-wheel-drive first generation. Anyone shopping for a used XC60 will mostly find automatics.
