Is the VW Polo big enough for a family?

For a small family, often yes, especially the AW generation from 2017, which is noticeably roomier in the back and boot than earlier Polos. Taller passengers will find the rear tight on long trips.

What changed between the VW Polo 6R and 6C?

The 6C of 2014 is a facelift of the 6R with new three-cylinder TSI and TDI engines, an updated dashboard and more safety equipment. The body is essentially the same.

Can I still find a three-door VW Polo?

Yes, but only up to the 6C generation, since the AW of 2017 is sold only as a five-door. Three-door Polos have longer doors and a harder climb into the back seat.
