Question 1

How long is the battery warranty on a used Tesla Model 3 or Model S?

Accepted Answer

Tesla's battery and drive unit warranty lasts eight years from first delivery and passes to the next owner, with mileage terms that vary by model and version. Check the car's delivery date and odometer against those terms before you buy. Remaining warranty is one of the strongest points of a used Tesla.

Question 2

How do I check the battery health of a used Tesla?

Accepted Answer

The simplest check on a used Tesla is to compare the estimated range at a full charge with the figure when new; recent software versions also include a battery health test in service mode. A moderate loss in the first years is normal, after which degradation tends to slow. Ask whether the car was mostly charged at home or on rapid chargers.

Question 3

Tesla Model 3 or Model S: which used saloon should I buy?

Accepted Answer

The Tesla Model 3 is smaller, more efficient and simpler to run, while the Model S offers more rear space, a large hatchback boot and more power. Many Model S cars have air suspension, which is costly to repair when it fails, so check what has already been replaced. Both add a front boot under the bonnet.
