Question 1

Does a used Tesla pay road tax in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

No. Fully electric cars are exempt from the IUC, the annual road tax, whatever their age. They still need the periodic IPO inspection like any other car.

Question 2

Is the battery still under warranty on a used Tesla?

Accepted Answer

Tesla covers the battery and drive unit for eight years, with a mileage limit that depends on the model and version. The warranty passes to the next owner, so check the first registration date and the odometer against that limit.

Question 3

Where can I charge a Tesla in and around Braga?

Accepted Answer

A wallbox at home is the cheapest option if you have a garage. Away from home, you can use the public Mobi.E network and Tesla's Superchargers.

Question 4

What should I check when buying a used Tesla?

Accepted Answer

Ask for a battery health report and look closely at the suspension and tyres, which wear faster on a heavy electric car. Confirm too which software features, such as Autopilot upgrades, stay with the car after the sale.
