Question 1

Which Renault Captur engine suits driving around Porto?

Accepted Answer

For mostly urban trips, the TCe petrol or the E-Tech hybrid make sense, since the hybrid runs on electric power at low speeds. The dCi diesel pays off for drivers who regularly cover longer distances on the motorway.

Question 2

What should I check on a Captur with the EDC automatic gearbox?

Accepted Answer

Drive it in slow traffic and try a hill start, watching for jerky engagement or hesitation between gears. Ask whether the gearbox has been serviced and whether a Renault workshop has applied software updates.

Question 3

How is ownership of a used Captur transferred in Porto?

Accepted Answer

The change of owner is registered at the Registo Automóvel, online or at a registry office. Check that the IUC for the current year has been paid and that the IPO inspection is valid if the car is over four years old.

Question 4

Is a plug-in hybrid Captur worth it without home charging?

Accepted Answer

The E-Tech plug-in hybrid only delivers its low consumption when it is charged regularly. Without access to a socket, the E-Tech full hybrid is usually the more sensible choice.
