Question 1

Which is the better buy, a first or second-generation Peugeot 208?

Accepted Answer

The first generation is cheaper and offers a wide choice of petrol and diesel engines. The second, from 2019, is more modern inside, has more driver assistance and is the only one available as the electric e-208.

Question 2

Should the Peugeot 208's 1.2 PureTech engine worry me?

Accepted Answer

The belt driving its camshafts runs in the engine oil and can deteriorate early, especially when oil changes were stretched. A record of on-time servicing and, ideally, a recent belt inspection make a used 208 a far safer purchase.

Question 3

Is an electric e-208 practical in Braga?

Accepted Answer

For daily driving around Braga and trips to Guimarães or Porto its range is enough, and it pays no IUC. Ask for a battery health report, as the remaining capacity matters more than the mileage.

Question 4

Is the Peugeot 208 a good first car?

Accepted Answer

Its compact size, light controls and low running costs make it a popular choice for new drivers. Get insurance quotes before buying, since premiums for young drivers vary noticeably with the engine.
