Question 1

Is a high-mileage Qashqai dCi a risk?

Accepted Answer

Kilometres covered on the motorway are kinder to a diesel than short trips, so a high reading is not a reason on its own to walk away. Ask when the timing gear and clutch were last looked at, and listen for a dual-mass flywheel rattle at idle and when the engine is switched off.

Question 2

Are there four-wheel-drive Qashqai?

Accepted Answer

Every generation offered a 4x4 version, though most Qashqai sold are front-wheel drive. It adds weight and fuel consumption, and is mainly worth it for regular winter trips to the mountains of the Gerês or the Marão.

Question 3

Is there a seven-seat Qashqai?

Accepted Answer

Only the first generation had one, the Qashqai+2. The second and third generations have five seats, and Nissan's seven-seat option became the X-Trail.

Question 4

When is a used Qashqai due for its IPO?

Accepted Answer

In Portugal a passenger car has its first periodic inspection four years after first registration, another at six years, then every year from the eighth. The date of the next IPO is on the last inspection report, so check it before agreeing a price.
