Question 1

What is a Volkswagen eTSI engine?

Accepted Answer

An eTSI is a TSI petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system, always paired with the DSG automatic gearbox. It assists when pulling away and switches the engine off when coasting, but it cannot drive on electricity alone or be plugged in.

Question 2

Which new Volkswagen petrol cars have a manual gearbox?

Accepted Answer

The manual survives on the simplest Polo, T-Cross and Taigo versions with the 1.0 TSI, on the 116 hp 1.5 TSI Golf and Golf Variant, and on one T-Roc Cabrio. The eTSI versions are all DSG automatics.

Question 3

What is the difference between the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Golf R?

Accepted Answer

The Golf GTI is the range's front-wheel-drive hot hatch, while the Golf R is more powerful and uses 4Motion all-wheel drive. Both run on petrol and have a DSG automatic gearbox.

Question 4

How much ISV and IUC does a new Volkswagen petrol car pay?

Accepted Answer

A new petrol Volkswagen pays ISV at first registration and IUC every year, both based on engine size and CO2 emissions. The small 1.0 TSI in the Polo, T-Cross and Taigo pays much less than the engines in the Golf GTI and Golf R.
