Question 1

Which new Volkswagen hybrids are on sale in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

The 1.5 TSI eHybrid plug-in powers the Golf with 204 hp, or 272 hp in the GTE, the Passat and Tiguan with 204 or 272 hp, and the Tayron. The T-Roc is the range's full hybrid, with 136 or 170 hp.

Question 2

What is the difference between a Volkswagen eHybrid and the T-Roc hybrid?

Accepted Answer

The eHybrid is a plug-in hybrid: it charges from a socket and covers daily trips on electricity alone. The T-Roc hybrid recharges its own battery and only runs on electricity for short distances at low speed.

Question 3

Does a Volkswagen eTSI count as a hybrid?

Accepted Answer

Not for tax purposes: the eTSI is a mild hybrid and, in practice, a petrol car that cannot drive on electricity. It does not get the ISV benefits of plug-in hybrids.

Question 4

How much ISV and IUC does a new Volkswagen hybrid pay?

Accepted Answer

Hybrids pay ISV at first registration and IUC every year, both based on engine size and CO2 emissions. The eHybrids can pay only part of the ISV if they meet the electric-range and emissions conditions, and their low official emissions also ease the IUC.
