Question 1

Which engines does the new Volkswagen Passat have?

Accepted Answer

The new Passat is sold with the 150 hp 1.5 eTSI mild hybrid, the 2.0 TDI with 122 or 150 hp, and the 1.5 TSI eHybrid plug-in with 204 or 272 hp. Every version has a DSG automatic gearbox.

Question 2

Is the new Volkswagen Passat still available as a saloon?

Accepted Answer

No: the current Passat is sold only as an estate, and the saloon is no longer part of the European range. The estate takes over the role of the old Passat Variant, with more space than its predecessor.

Question 3

Volkswagen Passat eHybrid or TDI: which to buy new?

Accepted Answer

The eHybrid pays off for drivers who can charge often and make many short trips, which it covers on electricity. The TDI remains the choice for long motorway distances without depending on charging.

Question 4

Does a new Volkswagen Passat pay ISV and IUC in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the eTSI and TDI Passat pay ISV at first registration and IUC every year, both based on engine size and CO2 emissions. The eHybrid can pay only part of the ISV if it meets the plug-in electric-range and emissions conditions.
