Question 1

Which engines does the new Volkswagen Golf have?

Accepted Answer

The new Golf is sold with the 116 hp 1.5 TSI and a manual gearbox, the 116 and 150 hp 1.5 eTSI mild hybrids with DSG, the 116 and 150 hp 2.0 TDI, and the 204 hp eHybrid plug-in, or 272 hp in the GTE. The Variant shares the petrol and diesel engines but not the eHybrid.

Question 2

What is the difference between the Golf eHybrid and the Golf GTE?

Accepted Answer

Both are plug-in hybrids with the 1.5 TSI and a DSG gearbox, charged from a socket. The eHybrid has 204 hp and comes in Life and Sportline trims, while the GTE reaches 272 hp and has a sportier set-up.

Question 3

Volkswagen Golf or Golf Variant: which to buy new?

Accepted Answer

The Golf Variant is the estate, with a bigger boot and the same petrol and diesel engines as the hatchback. The five-door is shorter and is the only one offered with the eHybrid and GTE plug-ins.

Question 4

Does a new Volkswagen Golf pay ISV and IUC in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

Yes, petrol and diesel Golfs pay ISV at first registration and IUC every year, both based on engine size and CO2 emissions. The eHybrid and GTE, as plug-ins, can pay only part of the ISV if they meet the electric-range and emissions conditions.
