Question 1

Which versions of the new BMW 5 Series are on sale in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

The new 5 Series comes as a saloon or Touring with the 197 hp 520d diesel (also with xDrive), the 286 hp 540d xDrive, the 208 hp 520i petrol and the 299 hp 530e and 489 hp 550e xDrive plug-in hybrids. The electric i5 is offered as the 340 hp eDrive40, 394 hp xDrive40 and 601 hp M60 xDrive.

Question 2

How much does a new BMW 5 Series cost?

Accepted Answer

A new BMW 5 Series ranges from the entry 520d or 520i up to the i5 M60 xDrive. The price rises with power, xDrive and the Touring body, and each version has its own official list price.

Question 3

Does the BMW i5 pay ISV and IUC in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

No, the BMW i5 is fully electric and exempt from both ISV and IUC in Portugal. Combustion 5 Series pay both on engine size and CO2, while the 530e and 550e plug-in hybrids can qualify for reduced ISV if they meet the electric range and emissions conditions.

Question 4

Is a new BMW 5 Series worth it over a nearly new one?

Accepted Answer

A new 5 Series gives you the full factory warranty and a choice of electric, plug-in, diesel or petrol. Executive saloons lose a lot of value in their first years, so buying new pays off mainly for long-term owners and company buyers.
