Which automatic gearbox does the Mercedes GLA have?

It is a dual-clutch: the seven-speed 7G-DCT on the X156 and most petrol H247s, and the eight-speed 8G-DCT on H247 diesels and the GLA 250 e. Both come with paddle shifters and several driving modes.

Is the Mercedes GLA 7G-DCT gearbox reliable?

Generally yes, provided its oil has been changed on schedule, so look for that in the service record. Jerky low-speed shifts are often cured by a software update at a Mercedes workshop.

Was the Mercedes GLA sold with a manual gearbox?

Yes, the first X156 offered a six-speed manual on its entry petrol and diesel versions. The H247 is, in practice, sold as an automatic.

From €13,500 to €79,500, half under €33,925 · Typically 2021 with 78,000 km. An automatic GLA uses a dual-clutch gearbox rather than a torque converter: the 7G-DCT on most cars and the 8G-DCT on H247 diesels and the plug-in hybrid. It shifts quickly on the move but can feel hesitant when creeping in traffic or parking.
