Which diesel engine should I choose in a Mercedes B-Class?

The B 180 d is the most economical and, in many versions, uses a 1.5 shared with Renault. The B 200 d and B 220 d use larger Mercedes engines with more torque for the motorway and a fully loaded car.

Does the diesel Mercedes B-Class use AdBlue?

The current W247 diesels do, with a tank that needs topping up between services. Do not ignore an AdBlue warning on the dashboard, as the car may eventually refuse to start.

Is a diesel Mercedes B-Class worth it for town driving?

Rarely. On short trips the particulate filter cannot finish regenerating and eventually clogs. For mostly urban use, a petrol B-Class or the B 250 e plug-in hybrid makes more sense.
