Which automatic gearbox does each Land Rover have?

The Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Velar, Discovery and new Defender use the ZF eight-speed. The Evoque and Discovery Sport have the ZF nine-speed, and the Freelander 2 a six-speed automatic.

Does the Land Rover Evoque nine-speed gearbox give trouble?

In its early years it was criticised for hesitant shifts and jerks at low speed. Most cars improved with software updates, so check with a dealer that they were applied.

Does a Land Rover automatic gearbox need an oil change?

The maker described the fluid as lifetime, but many specialists recommend changing it on high-mileage or towing cars. A service history showing that change is a good sign.
