Which Ford Ranger diesel engine is the best?

The five-cylinder 3.2 TDCi is the strongest of the older engines and suits heavy towing, while the 2.2 TDCi is more economical. From 2019 the 2.0 EcoBlue replaced both, and the latest generation adds a 3.0 V6 for the toughest work.

Does the Ford Ranger 2.0 EcoBlue need AdBlue?

Yes. The 2.0 EcoBlue meets newer emission standards with selective catalytic reduction, so its AdBlue tank must be topped up. On any Ranger diesel, short trips make the particulate filter clog more easily.

What should I check on a used Ford Ranger diesel in Portugal?

Engage four-wheel drive and low range on the test drive, inspect the chassis and suspension for off-road knocks and check the wear on the tow bar. A pickup used for work often hides a hard life behind a clean cab.
