Question 1

Can an older Ford Focus drive in central Lisbon?

Accepted Answer

It depends on its age, because the Avenida-Baixa-Chiado low-emission zone restricts older cars on weekdays. A recent-generation Focus meets the rules easily, while a first-generation one may be limited. Check the current rules with Lisbon City Council before buying.

Question 2

How do you register a used Ford Focus bought in Lisbon?

Accepted Answer

The change of owner is recorded at the Registo Automóvel, at a registry office or Espaço Automóvel in the Lisbon area, or online. Buyer and seller both sign the form, and at a dealer the seller usually handles it. The IUC road tax becomes the new owner's responsibility from registration.

Question 3

Which Ford Focus suits Lisbon traffic?

Accepted Answer

In traffic on the IC19, the CRIL or the Segunda Circular, a fourth-generation automatic Focus with its eight-speed torque converter gearbox is the most comfortable choice. On the third generation, the Powershift automatic calls for a repair history. For short daily trips, petrol spares the particulate filter.
