Which petrol engine should I choose in a DS?

For everyday use, the 130 hp 1.2 PureTech in the DS 3 Crossback and DS 4 balances economy and performance. The 180 to 225 hp 1.6 PureTech gives the DS 7 and DS 9 the pace their weight calls for.

Is the 1.6 THP engine in the DS 3 reliable?

Early versions are known for timing-chain stretch, carbon build-up and oil consumption; later updates improved it. Listen to a cold start and ask for the oil-change history.

What should I check on a DS with the 1.2 PureTech engine?

The oil-bath timing belt, which degrades with the wrong oil or late changes and can block the lubrication. Ask for the date of the last belt change and the oil specification used.
