Question 1

What is the difference between the Citroën DS3 and the DS 3?

Accepted Answer

The hatchback was sold as the Citroën DS3 until DS became a separate brand, after which the same car carried the DS 3 badge. From 2019 the name moved to a new, taller crossover, the DS 3 Crossback, later simply called DS 3.

Question 2

What should I check on a DS 3 with the PureTech engine?

Accepted Answer

The 1.2 PureTech three-cylinder uses a timing belt that runs in oil, and its wear can clog the lubrication system if it is not replaced on time. Ask for invoices showing the belt change and regular oil services with the specified oil.

Question 3

Is the electric DS 3 E-Tense a sensible used buy?

Accepted Answer

It suits mostly urban and regional driving with charging at home. Ask for a battery health report and check that the charging cables are included; as an electric car it pays no IUC.

Question 4

Are the older DS 3 1.6 THP petrol models worth considering?

Accepted Answer

The 1.6 THP is lively but known for timing chain wear and oil consumption, so a documented history matters more than low mileage. For high mileages, the HDi and BlueHDi diesels are an alternative.
