Question 1

What is the known problem with the C5 Aircross 1.2 PureTech engine?

Accepted Answer

Its timing belt runs inside the engine oil and on some engines it wears early, shedding debris that can block the oil pickup. Ask for the belt-change history and evidence that the correct oil was used at each service.

Question 2

Is the C5 Aircross available with four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

No, it is front-wheel drive. Some versions have Grip Control, which adapts traction for mud, snow or sand, but it is no substitute for four-wheel drive.

Question 3

What should I check on a diesel C5 Aircross?

Accepted Answer

BlueHDi diesels use AdBlue to cut emissions, and a fault in the tank or its pump brings up a warning that can end with the engine refusing to restart. Check the dashboard for AdBlue messages and ask whether any repairs have been done.

Question 4

What does the C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid change?

Accepted Answer

It pairs a petrol engine with an electric motor and a battery charged from the mains, so short daily journeys can be driven on electricity. The benefit depends on charging at home or at work, and the battery takes some boot space.
