Question 1

How do the Citroën C4 generations differ?

Accepted Answer

The first generation (2004–2010) came as a five-door hatch and a three-door coupé, with a steering wheel whose centre stays still as you turn. The second (2010–2018) is a conventional family hatch, and the third, from 2020, is a raised fastback with Advanced Comfort suspension and an electric version, the ë-C4.

Question 2

What should I check on a used electric Citroën C4?

Accepted Answer

Ask a Citroën dealer for a battery health report, and check how much remains of the battery warranty, which runs for eight years or 160,000 km. Confirm that the car charges on both an AC wallbox and a DC fast charger, and that the charging cable comes with it.

Question 3

Does an electric Citroën C4 pay IUC in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

No, fully electric cars are exempt from IUC, and an imported one pays no ISV on registration either. Petrol and diesel C4s do pay IUC, worked out for most of them from cylinder capacity and CO2, with an extra charge on diesel.

Question 4

Is the 1.2 PureTech in the Citroën C4 a concern?

Accepted Answer

The 1.2 PureTech petrol in second- and third-generation C4s has a timing belt that runs in oil and can wear early. Insist on records of belt checks and replacement at Citroën's intervals with the specified oil, and treat a low oil pressure warning as a reason to walk away.

Question 5

Where can I charge an electric Citroën C4 in Lisbon?

Accepted Answer

Public chargers in Lisbon belong to the Mobi.E network, which you use with a card or app from a charging provider. Without off-street parking at home, check the chargers near where you live and work before choosing an electric C4.
