Question 1

Which Audi TT generation should I choose?

Accepted Answer

The first (1998 to 2006) is the simplest and cheapest, the second (2006 to 2014) is roomier and quicker, and the third (2014 to 2023) brings the digital Virtual Cockpit. The TTS and the five-cylinder TT RS sit above the standard cars in the second and third generations.

Question 2

Why does an Audi TT's registration date matter for IUC?

Accepted Answer

Cars first registered before July 2007 pay IUC by engine size and age, while later ones pay by engine size and CO2 emissions. Two TTs of the same model can therefore carry quite different annual tax.

Question 3

What are the Audi TT's known weak points?

Accepted Answer

Some second-generation 2.0 TFSI engines burn oil, so ask how much the car uses between services. S tronic gearboxes and the Haldex coupling on quattro cars need regular fluid changes.

Question 4

Is the Audi TT practical as an everyday car?

Accepted Answer

The coupé has two small rear seats suited to children or bags, and a usable hatchback boot. The roadster has two seats only and less luggage space.
